Women Today 2010 Featured Speaker 

   

Mother of four ,award-winning actress Patricia Heaton is one of the most unusual and refreshing voices in Hollywood.  Audiences enjoy Heaton's refreshing candor, her honesty, her humor and her willingness to tackle tough topics facing people today.  Her insights on marriage and motherhood, and her openness about balancing her career with raising her four sons make Heaton a fascinating, entertaining and heartwarming speaker.

Heaton is currently starring in The Middle on ABC.  Previously, she starred as newscaster Kelly Car in Fox's new hit sitcom Back to You alongside Kelsey Grammer.  Her hilariously realistic portrayal of much put-upon housewife Debra Barone in the hit show Everybody Loves Raymond garnered her six nominations and two Emmys for best actress in a sitcom.  She was again nominated by her peers for her performance in Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl, and has performed in numerous other TV and Film roles.

Heaton's professional accomplishments don't end with acting.  Her talents as a humorist were on display in The New York Times best-selling autobiography Motherhood and Hollywood-How to Get a Job Like Mine.  In it, she recounts her idyllic childhood in Cleveland, Ohio, her struggles to start a career in New York City, and her eventual success in Los Angeles.  Her down-to-earth and self deprecating style garnered her great reviews and delighted her millions of fans.

At the request of President Bush, Heaton served on his Council for Volunteerism, and lives out her commitment to serve through many charities she supports, including Autism Speaks, The American Red Cross, World Vision, Compassion International, The Tuberousclerosis Society, The Every Child Foundation, Sparrows Gate Orphanage, and numerous other local, national and International organizations and causes.

Join us on Friday, March 19th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on the show floor for our first annual Women's Wine Down event.  The benefit will be hosted by Fabio Viviani, season five contestant and fan favorite of Bravo's Top Chef.  Come wind down after work with your girl friends, sample food and wine, and shop 'til you drop at this VIP shopping event.  Ashe's Wine and Spirits has partnered with Knoxville Beverage Company and Gnarly Head wines to produce our wine tasting for the evening.  Our favorite local restaurants, including the Crown and Goose, RouXbarb, RouXbarbeque, Salsarita's, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, Avanti Savoia as well as Cabot Creamery will be sampling their fabulous food.  Mingle and shop the entire show floor, where our exhibitors will be offering specials and discounts for our select, VIP shoppers.  Belleza Salon and Spa will be offering complimentary nail polishes and make up touches for our attendees , as you relax with your glass of wine while listening to tunes from the Boling, Brown and Holloway Jazz Trio.  You can also enter for the chance to win a new Harley Davidson from Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson!

All ticket proceeds benefit the News Sentinel Empty Stocking Fund (ESF).  Don't forget to shop our silent auction this evening as well, where all proceeds will again benefit ESF. 2010 marks the charity's 99th year of campaigning to feed disadvantaged East Tennesseans during the holidays.  In 2009, ESF provided 3,600 families with 70 lb food baskets, feeding 10,000 people and 3,000 children with a new toy and book the week of Christmas.  Our goal is to sell 500 tickets to Women's Wine Down, raising $20,000 for the Empty Stocking Fund!  Buy your tickets to this don't miss event at the Knoxville News Sentinel building or get your tickets at any ticket booth during Friday's Women Today show or purchase tickets directly at the Wine Down event.

Sit, Stay, Strut Pet Fashion Show

We're proud to support the Young Williams Animal Shelter again in 2010 with our second annual Sit, Stay, Strut Pet Fashion Show.  By bringing awareness to pet adoptions and shelter programs like the spay/ neuter shuttle, our furry four-legged friends are the perfect spokes models at our fashion show.  Not to mention, you just might find your very own perfect new family member! 

From 9 am to noon, receive $2 off your ticket price by bringing in a (minimum) 5 lb bag of dry dog or cat food.  All pet food collected will be donated to the Young Williams Animal Shelter's food pantry.  So don't miss this returning runaway runway with the whole family.  Make sure to visit the All About Paws Pavilion all weekend at the show for all things pet!  For more information about the Young Williams Animal Shelter, visit www.knoxpets.org
